Description
The percale fabric of the cover matters — it keeps the pathway open for heat and moisture to escape upward, rather than trapping it between you and whatever's inside.
In summer, I skip the insert entirely. The cover over your percale sheets is usually enough for a warm night, and most of us run too hot for a filled duvet anyway.
In cooler months, cotton or wool blankets layer better than a duvet insert — they give you more control as your temperature swings through the night. Add one or two underneath this cover and you have a sleep system that responds to you rather than one that locks you in.
